The style charlacteristic of ancient Greece and its Mediterranean colonies from the 7th Century BC, when stone building was revived, to the 1st Century BC, when Greece was absorbed into the Roman Empire.

The most important Greek buildings were temples, and the beautifully proportioned columns that became typical of them were immensely influential on Roman and on much subsequent European architecture.
