Rusticated Stone

Also known as Rustication.

A style of masonry in which the surface of the blocks is roughened and/or the joints are deeply sunk. This treatment emphasises the stone's appearance and is usually found in Classical (imitating Italian Renaissance buildings) and Italianate buildings.
