Ionic Order

The second of the three orders of Ancient Greek architecture and one of the five Roman orders; characterised by scroll-like decorations (volutes).

Ionic columns, pilasters and entablature are sometimes used in British Classical architecture, along with the other 'orders' which all have different systems of proportioning and styles (and degrees) of decoration.
