Entablature

(1) In Classic architecture, the beam-like part of a temple above the columns. The entablature horizontally spans the tops of the columns or pilasters and consists of three parts; the lowest is the architrave, the highest is the cornice and the frieze is in between.

(2) The area above an entryway in which the transom is contained.
