Coping

A flat cover of stone or brick that protects the top of a wall and prevents water penetrating into its core. Copes are often shaped and can be decorative.

Tabled coping usually refers to a flat copingstone and is usually seen on a gable end of a building as opposed to on a freestanding wall.
